Cabinet handles are sold by centre-to-centre (C/C) distance: the gap between the two screw holes. It is not the overall length of the handle. A "160 mm handle" has holes 160 mm apart and is usually around 170 to 200 mm long overall, depending on the design.
Standard sizes follow 32 mm increments because cabinet machinery drills on a 32 mm system. Our cabinet handles are made in all seven standard sizes:
| C/C size | Where it is used |
|---|---|
| 96 mm | Small drawers, upper cabinets, bathroom vanities |
| 128 mm | Standard upper and base cabinet doors |
| 160 mm | Base unit doors, 450 to 600 mm drawers, wardrobe doors |
| 192 mm | 600 mm drawers and doors, the usual "one size for the whole kitchen" choice |
| 224 mm | Wide drawers, tall unit doors |
| 256 mm | 800 to 900 mm drawers, pantry doors |
| 288 mm | Very wide drawers, appliance housings, feature doors |
Rules of thumb
- Drawers: a handle about one-third the drawer width looks balanced. A 600 mm drawer takes 192 mm; a 900 mm drawer takes 256 or 288 mm.
- Doors: 128 or 160 mm on most doors; go to 192 mm or more on tall doors above 1.2 m.
- Consistency: many kitchens use a single size, usually 160 or 192 mm, on everything except very small drawers. It looks tidier and simplifies ordering.
- Replacing handles: measure the existing holes. If they are 128 mm apart, order 128 mm, whatever the handle's overall length.
Finish matching
Choose handles in the same finish as any visible knobs and legs in the room. We offer matt, glossy, black, gold and rose gold across all three product lines so they can be matched exactly.
Screws
Handles are supplied with M4 screws for 18 mm board. If your door is thicker, for example a 25 mm shutter or a door with a back panel, ask for longer screws when you order.
Ordering tip
When sending a requirement, list it as code, size, finish and quantity, for example S-231, 192 mm, matt, 120 pcs. That is all we need to quote.
